Jessner’s Peel is a superior treatment designed to remove superficial layers of skin. It’s one of the most effective light cosmetic peel available. A Jessner’s peel consists of a mild peeling agent that can be used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation and to treat aged sun damaged skin.
The Jessner’s peel is excellent for all skin types. It smoothes and rejuvenates skin, producing beautiful results in treating mild to severe acne, discoloration, moderate wrinkling, and sun damage. Peeling the face, neck, hands, and upper chest are also quite effective.
The Jessner’s peel is very beneficial for patients with acne, oily, or thicker skin, because it tends to decrease oil production and open clogged sebaceous follicles. It also contributes to the healing process of acne.
The Jessner’s peel combines resorcinol, lactic acid, and salicylic acid to result in deeper penetration and greater exfoliation of the outer layers of skin cells. This deeper exfoliation produces noticeable flaking and exfoliation in the following three to four days after the peel, and within a week a smoother, healthier layer of skin will be revealed.

What is a VI Peel?
A VI Peel is a skin treatment used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, chest, hands or other areas. As a medical-grade chemical peel, the VI Peel is an effective treatment to improve several skin conditions and issues including acne, uneven skin texture, uneven tone, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, sagging skin, age and sun spots, enlarged pores and hyperpigmentation. The VI Peel also provides a more youthful look by brightening the overall appearance of the skin and improving collagen production. The VI Peel, like some other chemical peels, can also assist in removing precancerous cells.
How does a VI Peel work?
Using a chemical solution, VI Peels remove the upper layers of skin to allow the growth of fresh new skin that is smoother and more youthful in appearance, while also increasing collagen production.
What happens during a VI Peel?
The VI Peel treatment is very convenient as it can be performed in Dr. Tran’s office and requires no pre-treatment. After the skin is cleaned, VI Peel will be applied topically to your skin. Patients typically experience a warm, tingly sensation that quickly subsides. The procedure takes only 20 to 30 minutes, but must leave the peel on the skin for five hours following the appointment. With VI Peel there is little or no downtime. Peeling lasts 2 to 3 days and is easily managed with the post-peel kit that is included with the peel. For a week or two following the peel it’s best to avoid exfoliating products like glycolic acid and retinols. Avoid direct and prolonged exposure to the sun. As well, resist the temptation of pulling your peeling skin off – it’s important that you let it peel naturally. Once your skin has completely recovered and is finished peeling, you will notice a visible improvement in your complexion. Your skin’s appearance should continue to improve for the next 4 to 6 weeks, becoming firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier, and more youthful looking.
What are the benefits of a VI Peel over other chemical peels?
- Virtually pain-free
- Little-to-no downtime
- Light peeling that can be masked by using moisturizer
- Allows for immediate return to regular activities
- Safe and effective on all skin types and tones
Who should consider getting a VI peel?
The VI Peel can be used on all skin types. The VI Peel has been safely used to manage acne in patients as young as 12 years of age and is effective for use on darker skin tones that have not historically responded well to other chemical peel procedures, such as Asian, African-American or Latino skin tones.
